Refreshing Your Bedroom with a New Colour Scheme

January 24, 2018

From time to time, you may have an urge to make changes to your bedroom. A refreshed look in the bedroom can have an enormous impact on your mood and give you a much-needed boost. This is because your bedroom is your own private quarters and somewhere that you spend a significant amount of time relaxing. It is where you recharge your batteries, so it should be somewhere that reflects your identity and a room that you feel peaceful in.

Refreshing the Look

There are many different ways that you could refresh your bedroom. These include hanging artwork, placing photos of friends and family around the room, changing the bedding, putting a carpet down, new furniture and adding lights. These can all be effective, but there is one brilliant way to refresh your room which can have a huge impact on how it both looks and feels inside.

Changing the Colour

This is to change the colour scheme of the room. Changing the wall colour will give the bedroom an entirely new look and is a key way to establish mood and atmosphere. The wall colour can then influence the colour scheme with the rest of the room, including the colour of your bedding, carpets, curtains and decorative items. When you pick a solid colour scheme that reflects your identity, it will help you to feel calm and relaxed any time that you are in the bedroom.

Colour of the Year

There are many great colours to choose which work well in the bedroom, but perhaps the best choice is the colour of 2018 – purple. Every December, Pantone announces a colour that they believe will be favoured in interior design and fashion over the course of the year. For 2018, they have selected Pantone 18-3838 (Ultra Violet). Pantone describes this beautiful shade as “a spiritual, cosmic hue” and a “dramatically provocative and thoughtful shade”. This makes it a great choice for the bedroom, but also quite a bold statement.

Using Purple in the Bedroom

To use it effectively in the bedroom, consider using it on the walls and then complimenting this with subtle accents of purple around the room. This could include artwork, flowers and patterned textiles. Different textures and finishes are also a great way keep the look fresh, so consider purple curtains from places like Direct Blinds. You could also use complimentary colours, like white and silver in other areas of the room.

Changing the colour scheme in your bedroom is a great way to refresh the room and also improve your mood and help you to relax, so why not give it a go?
