The Kitchen It’s The Hub Of Our Home

When I was growing up the one room that everybody in our home always congregated in was the kitchen. It was simply the hub of our home where everybody caught up with each other and chatted about their day and of course sat down for our evening meal together as a family.

This is something that has now transferred to our home and our children. We often sit down and chat about the girls day at school, but the girls love to cook and the kitchen has consequently become an important room in our home now that I am a parent.

When we moved into our home a few years ago the kitchen was very functional and actually didn’t need a lot doing to do it, but it wasn’t what I really wanted, yet it wasn’t something that I could afford to change at the time.

Now we have been in our home for a while I have started to think it’s time we did something about the kitchen. It’s a good sized square kitchen with a utility room that branches off it, and it could easily become the hub of our home just like my kitchen as a child was.

The kitchen is very dated with wood panel doors and the worktops have really seen better days. I have ideas about what I would like, but I’m no design expert. As such I have been online looking for companies that could help me realise my dream of the perfect kitchen. Sometimes you need to go somewhere and look at the finished article and then I came across Elan Kitchen Showroom, and instantly knew I needed to visit so I could get the modern and practical kitchen that will be the hub of our home.

I have started to formulate in my mind exactly what I want I want, and that’s an island in the middle for cooking, and a breakfast bar where my six year old twin girls can have their breakfast. I also want an area where we can all sit down for our meals and have those catch up talks about our days.

As I said we have a utility room adjoined to the kitchen which I think is a waste as there is a wall and a door that separates the two and it gives a much bigger kitchen if this was opened up. Of course design is not my strong point so I need to get the experts in to design and build our dream kitchen.

The look of the kitchen is also very important to me. I want a modern, but friendly feel to the units and worktops and I want the space we have to be used to its maximum.

In the next few months I intend to put our plan of giving us a kitchen that can become the hub of our home into action.
