Light Up Your Garden This Summer 

With summer now in full swing, it’s time to turn our attention to the outdoor space in our homes.

One of the loveliest things about living in the UK is during summer time we have long light evenings and it stays warm even after the sun has set. So sitting out in the garden enjoying the company of family and friends is an absolute must for me.

The garden is always in full bloom at this time of the year, which of course is beautiful to look at during the day, but with a little thought and time you can make the garden look stunning after the sun has gone in too.

I imagine you are wondering how? Well, here are some trends for 2017 for garden lighting from festive lights. You can create absolutely awesome looks with the use of some subtle lighting, and this year that is what I intend to do. So here are a few garden lights that I am hoping to use this year in my garden.

1. Fairy lights

Fairy lights are very subtle and always add a touch of magic to what is normally a boring old fence or an area that doesn’t have much in the way of blooms or greenery, and of course the kids love fairy lights, it will usually light up their imaginations.

2. Borders

During the day the vibrant colours of your well cultivated plants are easy for all to see in the sunlight, but as nightfall falls they disappear, so I thought about installing some border lights. This means you can enjoy all the beauty of your plants in the evening.

3. Patio Lighting

There is nothing more perfect than a warm summer evening spent sitting on the patio chatting with friends and family while your children play happily. Of course it wouldn’t be so good if it was dark. I don’t want a bright light, I’m looking for a light that gives just enough light and gives a cosy feel to the area. I decided to go with lanterns and have different coloured lanterns so it gives a warm feeling.

4. Solar Lighting

As dusks falls there is nothing worse than rushing around turning all your lights on. So I have decided that the best solution is solar lighting positioned all over the garden so as dusk falls your garden just naturally lights up and then you have plenty of time to turn on all those special feature lights.

These are my ideas that I hope to incorporate in my garden this summer to illuminate all the beautiful plants I have and also have areas lit up where we can sit and enjoy the summer months out in our garden to the full.
