Those taking their A’Levels are working hard to get… [Read More]

Sports Day : Competitive Or Non Competitive

It’s that time of the year when primary and junior schools will be holding their sports day, and as per usual it will bring up the subject of whether they should be competitive or non-competitive. It of course is entirely up to schools how they wish to approach sports day. The school our seven year old twin girls attend has a sports day that is competitive and I for one am completely happy with that. They give a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd in all the races and I cannot see anything wrong with that. It is teaching my girls to… [Read More]

Sats Exams and Stress: Mental Health Awareness Week

The Sats are in full swing in our seven year twin girls school at the moment, but if you ask them you wouldn’t be any the wiser that they were doing any sort of exam. We asked the question, as you do on the school pick-up, what did you do at school today? During the Sats they would say comprehension or maths and that was it. They didn’t expand beyond that. The reason I think this happened like this is because of the way the school our seven year old twin girls attend have done the Sats. They’ve done it… [Read More]

Mental Health Awareness Week: Social Media

I thought I would add my contribution to Mental Health Awareness week which is this week. My worries for the young generation that is growing up in an incredibly fake world where apparently everything is obtainable frightens the living daylights out of me. Society is creating a generation after generation that feel unworthy, have no self esteem, and lack confidence in themselves. There’s a belief that they must act or look a certain way to be accepted by society. Where is the root problem? It’s firmly lodged with social media. Social media may possibly have some positive effects, but I… [Read More]

Well It’s About Time Jeremy Kyle Was Taken Off The Air

Yesterday I heard the news that the Jeremy Kyle Show has been taken off the air. To be brutally honest this is not before time. I have watched episodes of the show and on most occasions somewhere in the show I feel uncomfortable with the way guests are treated by the host, Jeremy Kyle. His attitude is appalling as he intimidates, belittles and shouts at people that they are scum and the lowest of the low and all for a bit of sensationalism TV, but the truth is he is actually destroying people’s lives and ruining their self confidence by… [Read More]

Press Trip: Oakwood Theme Park

Yesterday we had the pleasure of visiting Oakwood, the largest theme park in Wales. It was a beautiful sunny day and blue skies for as far as you could see. As we live in Cardiff it was only about an hour and a half drive. Oakwood is set in the Pembrokeshire countryside and I couldn’t think of a more perfect setting for a theme park than in the countryside of Wales. Rolling green hills for miles around. I have been to Oakwood before about 10 years ago and experienced the thrills and spills of the rollercoaster. Sadly my experience of… [Read More]
